Image Edit is the default story on nanobanana.io: upload JPG, PNG, or WEBP, write a prompt, pick aspect ratio and output count, then download. Every Nano Banana model page exposes this tab beside Text To Image.

I would use this mode for retouching existing client stills — background swaps, wardrobe fixes, local relights — because the marketing copy emphasizes scene preservation rather than full regeneration.
